1st Day of Retirement

On Saturday my brother, his sons Chris & Matt, grandson Gunner (who was a little under the weather), Rachel (Chris's girlfriend)  and my son Nick went camping at Bates Canyon Campground in the Las Padres National Forest off of Hwy 166 near New Cuyama . We had a great time even though it was cold with snow still on the ground. My brother "Junior  Samples"  and i were in his "rv" a used FedEx van. Nick chose to sleep in his tent. Nick said his father and uncle were a little to gassy for safe sleep in a confined space.  Everyone else was in Chris's "vintage" trailer. I think we were all quite comfortable although I rolled off my bed (air mattress) onto the floor. It wasn't the king sized bed I'm used to in the coach.

Junior Samples RV Adventures  (my brother) and his staff (Chris and Rachel ) out did themselves.  Excellent food and drinks :) and great conversation and laughs. Chris, Matt and Rachel  are major backpackers  and shared some of their adventures and tips. I might give it a try someday if they promise not to leave me when I start whining.
It was a great way to start retirement. I wish Maria was with us but she doesn't do "Pit Toilets". Can't say I blame her. We're on the road at the end of the week in the Money Pit (coach).

  1. Congratulations! I question why you didn't do this earlier. Suspect Maria was not ready to have you around all day. Wish the best to you and Maria. Ben
