We haven't been up to much the last couple of days. The weather here goes from nice to windy and cold quickly.
I've had great entertainment watching and tracking cruise ships out here in the strait. It's the start of the Alaska season so lots of ships coming in en route to Seattle and Vancouver.
Today we went to the town next to Port Angeles called Sequim. They were having their annual Irrigation Festival.
It celebrates the construction of ditches which brought water to this dry area way back when. It's a small town so the street fair was about two blocks long and not crowded. Prefect!
Lot's of food and treats. The Olympic Express Big Band was playing and they were very good.
So I sit around while Maria and Eddi looked at all the treasures for sale.
They even have a pageant for Miss Irrigation I guess. Nice dresses.
It was a great day in a small Washington town. People we friendly but there is always some "Clowns" around to cause trouble......
The irrigation festival sounds like a great time! You didn't happen to run into Jerry Brown up there did you? Boy, there is a guy who knows a thing or two about ditches.. and being from the Bay Area, I would think a "Festival" would be right up his alley.
ReplyDeleteIf Jerry would hurry up and get that high speed rail built we could use it to carry iced ditch water from Sequim, Washington to the parched lips of the residents of Bel-Air, Brentwood and Hancock Park; being rich you tend to work up a powerful thirst! Of course, Jose, the only guy actually doing any work in So Cal still gets his water out of the garden hose.
Sounds like you are having a great time. I hope you ordered that book from Amazon. You just never know when one of those huge ships will turn and head straight at you!
The only thing I read now is a bar menu. If a huge ship is headed my way so be it. I hope its the Love Boat though LOL
