Been a busy and not to busy couple of days.
Tuesday we saw a movie on the Gold Rush by the National Park Service and a Ranger talked about women of the Klondike. Both were entertaining.
In the afternoon we had a talk by a "Bush" school teacher Heidi Sutton. She teaches in a Alaskan village about a 5 hour from any town. She teaches from 1st thru 12th grade. She's lived in the bush for 15+ years without electric, water and of course uses an outside toliet. She and her husband rasied her daughter who just graduated from high school in the bush.
Heidi is also a musher. They have a team of 20 dogs. She has ran the Iditarod and many other races. Here's a link on Heidi and her team www.kmakennel.com
She was very interesting and a very fun person.
In the evening we went to the "Days of 98" show as a group. Did some mock gambling and watched the show which told the story of "Soapy Smith" the crook who ran Skagway. Lot's of singing, dancing, and pretty girls. I just didn't know how pretty. Of course they got one of the guys up on stage (I lucked out not me). We're in the back. For thier final dance they picked Spikes wife to help and guess who else? The prettiest girl in the Caravan my Maria. Of course my cell phone had died so I got no pictures. But she was throwing her legs up just as high as the dancers and was the prettiest girl on the stage for sure. It was fun and everyone had a good time.
Whale watching on a tour boat today and some watching on the street (boat people) (4 ships in today). Oh and it's raining. Should be fun.
Sounds like a lot of fun. What other wildlife have you seen?
