We have been busy this past week with tours, driving and catching up on sleep. We left Dawson Saturday morning at 0615 to board the ferry to cross the Yukon River.
Than it was up and down on the Top of the World Highway. This is mostly a dirt/gravel road with lots of dust.
We could only travel at 25mph to 35mph.
We saw this fox on the road watching us go by.
We stopped in Chicken Alaska for lunch.
It started to rain so the road got a little muddy but less dust. There was a motorcycle rally going on "Dust to Dawson" so lots of daul purpose bikes on the road. It was a bit crazy. An Alaska State Trooper was on the road but he didn't stop any of the bikers but he did stop our tour leader Spike. Spike said there was a discussion about how we should be caravaning. The trooper must have been bored.
We stayed in Tok, Alaska for one night. The RV park had a pancake toss to win a free breakfast. The owner should have been a stand up comic. We had a great time. Than came Maria's turn. She seemed to be more interested in hitting me with a pancake which she did. No DV laws here I guess. No free breakfast but lots of laughs.
We are now in Fairbanks for four days. There are hundreds of forest fires caused by lightning here in Alaska. Very smoky in the area.
